Fun Fact: Men’s shirts button on the right and women’s on the left.
There is this flawed perception that having a big budget is a prerequisite of a great sense of style. But this couldn’t be more wrong. If anything, people perceived to have a great sense of style often don’t spend a lot on clothing items.
While some people have a more natural affinity towards style. In most cases it comes with self-discovery. We all go through experiences that change us and define us. The duration of these changes could affect one’s sense of style. Consciously embrace these changes with an open mind.
Just as no two people are the same, everyone’s style is different. On my last post, I likened the essence of style to human nature. If this is true, we as humans are perceptive and having free-will allows us to stumble on to whatever conclusion possible.
So, my opinion would be that even when two people wear the same outfit you would get totally different outcomes.
Why I wore this outfit?
I’m the sort of person that gets inspired by simple things. It could be as trivial as a movie or even something that was said in passing conversation. This is very much applicable to my sense of style. When it comes to fashion I draw inspiration from my day to day activities.
You ever get that feeling when you just know? Well that’s how I feel when I come across colour schemes that would make a great outfit while bearing in mind the contents of my wardrobe.
I got the inspiration for this outfit a while back while I was watching a movie called ‘Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children’ from the outfit the main character wore to be more precise. You should check it out, it’s a good movie.
While the theme of both outfit are different it would appear that the colours are practicable with my smart casual theme.
What Aftershave ? ?
If it ain’t broken don’t fix it. It’s the same as last time, ZARA’s Unshakable. This might just be my fragrance for this summer. Other fragrances I have used in the past and I think smell dope are Gucci Guilty, Bleu de Chanel (eau de parfum). I have used Paco Robane in the past, but I didn’t like it – and don’t get the hype around it either.
Suit – I got this suit from a sale in Next in London a couple of years back, so I have a bit of history with it. With this suit, I made my debut into 100+ likes club on Instagram (lol). Funny story is I don’t wear it as much anymore and I was looking to sell it off on eBay. Well I’m glad I reconsidered. Brown is one of my favourite colours and I feel it best compliments my skin tone.
Turtle neck – I got the turtle neck from Primark. It cost me £9 at the time. Gone are the days where I spend £30+ on turtle necks.
Trousers – Black H&M skinny chinos. With H&M at times it’s a hit and miss. But I have to give it to them, when it comes to smart casual clothing items and accessories… They definitely go in. From the fit to the feel of the material I think they have done a remarkable job. The only disappointment is their suits collection, the fit is rather poor and there isn’t a lot of variety.
Shoe – I got the shoe from ZARA a while back and they are sturdy and dependable. When it comes to shoes from ZARA anything above the price mark of £50 should last you a while.
Accessories – I got these glasses from H&M at a bargain price of £3 and have not regretted getting them ever since.
Style is about expression of one’s true self. Self-discovery is a journey that comes with experience. Live and learn from life’s experience, find yourself and you will find your Style.
